ABOUT
Joselyn paints in a contemporary, flat style, utilizing bold color to render her uplifting subjects. Her compositions are playful, often including an unexpected element, unique juxtaposition, or unconventional use of scale.
Raised in an artistic, modern design-centered family, Joselyn was highly influenced by her father, a noted architect, in her pursuit of creative outlets. She holds degrees from the University of Southern California and the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. In addition, she studied drawing and painting at various colleges and universities in Southern California, and has studied one-on-one for the past five years with James Strombotne, an internationally celebrated artist. In 2012, Joselyn survived two life-threatening illnesses, thanks to a bone marrow transplant from her brother and a relentless sense of humor. She emerged with a new-found desire to simplify life and create works that spark a smile. |
